Home Is Where the Horror Is by C.V. Hunt

The beautiful thing about life is that it isn’t perfect.

Evan Lansing manages to eke out a living as a photographer, capturing the beauty of severely marred and deformed people. He’s content with his meager existence but his longtime girlfriend, Naomi, is looking for more out of life . . . things that cost money—marriage and children. Evan’s options are limited when he and Naomi resolve to split. He can stay with his brother and his brother’s insufferable wife and daughter or he can move into his deceased mother’s remote cabin and renovate it. The solitude of the cabin is an enticing alternative for Evan to start anew. But disturbing things begin to happen once Evan moves in and it leaves him to question if staying with his brother wasn’t the better option. And then there are the neighbors . . .

Death Pacts and Left-Hand Paths by John Wayne Comunale

Everyone is looking for shortcuts in life, but rarely do they find the kind they’re looking for, and when they do it never turns out like they thought. But what if you were to accidentally fall into cahoots with an other-worldly creature who could provide those shortcuts and so much more? Of course, there’s always a price attached to such favors, but killing gets easier the more you do it, and everything is great as long as the rewards outweigh the risk. That is until you find out this was never true and you’ve inadvertently set into motion something so horrible you lack the capacity to understand or accept it.

Office Mutant by Pete Risley

A nervous, insecure file clerk named Tim Plummet awakes from vague nightmares into a world that appears surreal, but to him is quite mundane. When at work, he enters an artificial but drab office milieu generated by a mysterious device called the Space Saver. And among his co-workers is a gleeful assistant director named Mr. Drivel, who has extraordinary powers in the workplace, and seeks to make Tim his protégé. At home, Tim appears to possess the power to dominate his wife, Betty, and their children, despite Betty’s persistent complaints about a bill they receive in the mail from a company called Bliss Assurance which Tim insists on paying though he admits he doesn’t know what services are being provided. But Betty schemes to rebel against Tim’s domination, and events at home and work become more bizarre, until Tim experiences a revelation about his own true identity.

Poor Dennis. He’s a regular sort of guy who’s recently been dealt a shitty hand by life: he lost his job, his wife hates him and wants a divorce, and it turns out she was also cheating on him as well. Now he’s living on his brother’s couch. Holy fuck, that sucks. Dennis can’t imagine things could get much worse, and that’s why he jumped at the opportunity to take part in a new reality game show: a “sexcathlon” where the first person to achieve 10 increasingly difficult and perverted sexual challenges wins a million dollars and is crowned King of the Perverts. Dennis doesn’t care about the title, he just wants the money, but now he’s not sure he can make it to the end. Enduring a golden shower and following through with an Abe Lincoln are hard enough, but he’s losing his nerve and fears what act of perversion will come next. He’d like to drop out, but his Russian bear of a cameraman, Mongo, has other plans for him and that million dollar prize, and Dennis has to decide which is worse: winning the King of the Perverts, or losing it.

PRAISE FOR STEVE LOWE AND KING OF THE PERVERTS

“Steve Lowe is depraved! He taught me a few things with this hilarious, dangerous, sexy (?) book… None of which I wanted to learn. Take a ride with the King of the Perverts-just strap your clean thoughts and innocence in a car-seat, and hopefully they’ll survive the trip.” – Kevin Shamel, author of Rotten Little Animals, Island of the Super People, and Porn Land (forthcoming).

“Great, hilarious stuff that also raises a lot of questions about money, fame, gender and, more importantly, the Dirty Sanchez.” – Andersen Prunty, author of Fuckness and Hi I’m a Social Disease

“I get airsick pretty goddamned easily. But I kept reading while I was on the plane. Even through the turbulence. I started at the Dallas/Forth Worth Airport eating a veggie burger in a TGIFridays and ended whilst descending into Arizona. The unsuspecting woman sitting beside me had no idea. It was awesome. Completely amazing in so many ways. So sick. Oh, so sick.” – Caris O’Malley, author of The Egg Said Nothing
