WE ARE CURRENTLY CLOSED TO SUBMISSIONS. WE WILL OPEN TO SUBMISSIONS EARLY 2017. THANK YOU.
Please read submission guidelines carefully. Failure to follow the guidelines will result in an automatic rejection without the editor reading the manuscript.
WHEN WE REOPEN, THIS IS WHAT WE WILL BE LOOKING FOR:
Horror, extreme horror, dark fantasy, transgressive fiction, and general weirdness with a dark theme. As our name suggests, we are seeking grindhouse fiction. If you are unsure whether your book is right for Grindhouse Press please take some time to familiarize yourself with our catalog. We’re looking for stories similar to the writings of Bret Easton Ellis, Dennis Cooper, Bruce Wagner, Matthew Stokoe, Bentley Little, and Jack Ketchum. We’re also seeking books influenced by the directors John Waters and David Lynch. And books along the same vein as Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Last House on the Left, Pumpkinhead, Basket Case, Nekromantik, The Invitation, Blood Car, Rabies, Antichrist, The Human Centipede (1, 2, & 3), Knock Knock, A Girl Walks Home Alone at Night, Funny Games, Lost River, Borgman, Beyond the Black Rainbow, Maps to the Stars, and Cooties.
We are NOT interested in collections, science fiction, poetry, young adult, short stories, or experimental fiction.
Your submission should be 30,000+ words. The ideal range is between 30-60,000 words.
Please send a brief synopsis (150 words or less) with your manuscript as a Word attachment, double spaced, Times New Roman 12 point, to our submissions email, at grindhousepress (at) yahoo.com. The subject line should read: “Submission-Title of Novel by Author”. Please advise us if the manuscript is a simultaneous submission.
We’re a very small publisher and hope to publish 2-3 books a year. In other words, the likelihood of your book being accepted is very slim. We will try to respond within 3 months. Due to the high volume of submissions we are unable to respond to all of them. If you do not hear from us within 3 months your manuscript has been rejected. If you do receive a rejection it will be a standard form. We will not critique your manuscript.
Thanks for thinking of Grindhouse Press!
