Hey, folks!
I hope you all or enjoying the kickoff of summer. Sorry, this newsletter isn’t about a publication or submissions if that’s what you were looking for. I’m hoping some of you will continue reading.
As you may know, we bought a house and will be moving in a couple of months. The closing is this Thursday but we won’t be making the move until August 3rd. One thing my partner and I have always discussed is that we would love to live in a place where we could setup a Little Free Library. If you’re not familiar with the concept you can check out their website here: https://littlefreelibrary.org/ Fortunately, our new house is in an area that gets plenty of foot traffic, we have tons of Grindhouse Press books, along with some books from our personal collection to fill a library.
But we have a small issue . . . buying the house, and all of the expenses of moving, have really depleted our savings. It had been a while since I took a look at the kits from the Little Free Library and they’ve gotten a bit pricey. And obviously, we’d like to get the one that will hold the most books.
This is where you come in. I’ve started a GoFundMe. I know, I know, inflation hasn’t be kind to anyone. Believe me, I know, I just bought a house with a ridiculous interest rate. And if you can’t contribute, I understand. I would never want anyone who couldn’t afford it to contribute. But you can help in other ways, like sharing the link: https://gofund.me/fa33eea6
Our plan is to raise $650 to purchase the library, post, a post hole digger, cement, and I’m hoping to find some sort of solar powered light to mount on the library to light it at night. At the moment I’m writing this, we’ve managed to raise $86. We’re hoping to raise the money in time to get the library in place by the end of August or September. If we happen to go over our goal, our plan is to take any extra money and purchase banned books to fill the library. If for some bizarre reason we manage to double our goal we’ll purchase a second library.
We’re hoping you all can help us out by sharing our GoFundMe. And again, thank you for supporting Grindhouse Press and its authors.
